INPUT DEVICES

Input device is a hardware device that sends information to the computer.

Mouse:

Mouse is a pointer device. The mouse allows an individual to control a pointer in a graphical user interface (GUI). Utilizing a mouse a user has the ability to perform various functions such as opening a program or file and does not require the user to memorize commands.

Digital camera:

A type of camera that stores the pictures or video it takes in electronic format instead of to film.

Web Cam:

A camera connected to a computer that allows anyone connected to the Internet to view still pictures or motion video of a user.

Joystick:

A computer joystick allows an individual to easily navigate an object in a game such as navigating a plane in a flight simulator.

 Keyboard:

One of the main input devices used on a computer, a computer keyboard looks very similar to the keyboards of electric typewriters, with some additional keys.

Microphone:

Sometimes abbreviated as mic, a microphone is a hardware peripheral that allows computer users to input audio into their computers.

Scanner:

Scanner Input device that allows a user to take an image and/or text and convert it into a digital file, allowing the computer to read and/or display the scanned object

OUT PUT DEVICE

  • Monitor

  • A monitor is an electronic visual computer display that includes a screen, circuitry and the case in which that circuitry is enclosed. Older computer monitors made use of cathode ray tubes (CRT), which made them large, heavy and inefficient. Nowadays, flat-screen LCD monitors are used in devices like laptops, PDAs and desktop computers because they are lighter and more energy efficient.

  • A monitor is also known as a screen or a visual display unit (VDU).

  • Printer

  • A printer is basically an output device which prints a hard copy of the electronic data that is stored in the computer or any other devices. The electronic data may include documents, text, images or even the combination of all three. Particular printers are available for printing particular data types.

  • Speaker

Speakers are one of the most common  output device used with computer systems. Some speakers are designed to work specifically with computers, while others can be hooked up to any type of sound system. Regardless of their design, the purpose of speakers is to produce audio  output that can be heard by the listener.
Speakers are transducers that convert electromagnetic waves into sound waves. The speakers receive audio  input from a device such as a computer or an audio receiver. This input may be either in  analog or digital  form. Analog speakers simply amplify the analog electromagnetic waves into sound waves. Since sound waves are produced in analog form, digital speakers must first convert the digital input to an analog signal, then generate the sound waves.
The sound produced by speakers is defined by frequency and amplitude. The frequency determines how high or low the pitch of the sound is. For example, a soprano singer's voice produces high frequency sound waves, while a bass guitar or kick drum generates sounds in the low frequency range. A speaker system's ability to accurately reproduce sound frequencies is a good indicator of how clear the audio will be. Many speakers include multiple speaker cones for different frequency ranges, which helps produce more accurate sounds for each range. Two-way speakers typically have a tweeter and a mid-range speaker, while three-way speakers have a tweeter, mid-range speaker, and subwoofer.

  • Projector

A projector or image projector is an optical device that projects an image (or moving images) onto a surface, commonly a  projector screen. Most projectors create an image by shining a light through a small transparent lens, but some newer types of projectors can project the image directly, by using lasers. A  virtual rational display, or retinal projector, is a projector that projects an image directly on the retina instead of using an external projection screen.

The most common type of projector used today is called a video projector Video projectors are digital replacements for earlier types of projectors such as  slide projector   and    overhead projector These earlier types of projectors were mostly replaced with digital video projectors throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, but old analog projectors are still used at some places. The newest types of projectors are  handheld projector that use  lasers or LEDs to project images. Their projections are hard to see if there is too much ambient light

  • A device that is used to project video output from the computer onto a wall or screen.
